Three years ago today, 10 people accomplished what seemed impossible -- somehow they got a gang of the most disorganized players on Aerie Peak to choose a name and sign a charter. Since then, MOMiT has been making a habit of attempting the impossible. With each new goal (DPS for Curator! enough raiders to do Gruul!), we've learned a little bit more about the game, about our characters, and about each other.
A lot has happened in those three years. We've seen AQ gates open, naga demigods fall, and Arthas return to finish what he started. We've rescued troll prisoners for their lewts, searched through dung on two continents, and slaughtered innocent fawns to bathe in their blood before jumping in a lake. When we started out, mages would spend half an hour before the raid summoning stacks and stacks of water. Paladins had to rebless every five minutes. Summons most definitely did not work in instances.
As the game has changed, so have we. We've grown from a guild that (proudly!) wiped on bat boss, to a team that has wiped on Prince Melchezzar, Lady Vashj, Kel'Thuzad, and now Yogg-Saron.
But the truly epic part is what's been happening outside the game. We've seen three MOMiT marriages, two engagements, two MOMiT babies (with another on the way), and even a MOMiT grandson. We've bought three houses, and gathered nearly half the guild (twice!) to party at one of them. We've graduated from college three times, found or changed jobs almost a dozen times -- and all in these three short years.
So on this day of revels and reflections, let's look back on the long, strange, and -- most importantly -- fun ride we've all had together. Here's to attempting the impossible. Here's to making casual-raiding progression a reality. Here's to comrades-in-pixels, inside jokes (shaman bow!), and making fun of everyone's (well, mostly Art's) mom. Most of all, here's to MOMiT! Hooray! |
